# Guide How to switch booking apps without losing clients

Changing your diary is more frightening than it is hard. It takes an afternoon if you follow this order: check the contract, get your clients out, set up the new one and change the links, without closing the old one until it empties.

## 1. Check your contract first

Before touching anything, see if you are tied in. Booksy says it has no minimum term and you can cancel at any time. Treatwell has a 12-month minimum contract, so check when yours ends. On Fresha, check your plan and renewal date. What your terms say overrides what you read here.

## 2. Get your client list out

Your clients are yours. Get the list before cancelling anything:

- **Fresha:** its official help says it is under Clients, Clients list, Export button, in CSV or Excel.
- **Booksy:** look in Clients for an export option. If you do not see it, ask its support.
- **Treatwell:** we have not found a public guide. Ask its support how they hand over your data.
- **Paper or WhatsApp:** that works too. You can start with this week’s clients.

## 3. Set up the new one without closing the old

For a few weeks you can run both. Prepare your services with their real length, your hours, your team and your breaks. With Islagenda, paste your Booksy, Fresha or Google Maps link: in about 30 seconds your website is set up with your services, prices, hours and photos, and you check what is missing. Your client list is imported from an Excel or CSV file.

## 4. Move the appointments you already have

The appointments in the coming weeks are the only delicate part. Add them to the new diary and block those slots in the old one, so nobody books the same time twice. If there are many, the safest option is to let the old diary empty: new bookings in the new one, existing bookings where they are.

## 5. Change the links where people find you

- **Google:** in your Business Profile, in the bookings section, add your website link. If you do not see that option, your category or area may not have it: add the link as your website.
- **Instagram:** change the link on your profile.
- **WhatsApp Business:** change your profile link and automatic reply.
- **The counter:** change the QR code.

## 6. Tell your clients once, with no advertising

A short message to people with appointments or who come often is enough: “From now on you can book here: [your link]. Your next appointment stays the same”. Make it a notice, not an offer. And anyone who calls, you book in yourself as always.

## 7. Close the old one when it empties

When no appointments remain in the old diary, download your list again in case of new clients, check it does not renew and cancel. Before leaving, save your invoices if you need them.

## Questions

### Do I lose my reviews when I switch apps?

Those on your Google profile are on your profile: they stay. Those inside Booksy, Fresha or Treatwell stay on those platforms.

### How long does it take?

Setting up the new one, an afternoon or a 30-minute video call. What takes longer is letting the old diary empty, which depends on your next appointments.

### What if I depend on the new clients its marketplace brings?

Then do the sums before you leave. A website of your own does not bring marketplace clients: your Google profile, your social media and your clients do. We compare the numbers in [the comparison](https://islagenda.com/en/compare/).
